Northampton College – Trinity College

Northampton College
This is the small ‘Strawberry Hill Gothick’ building on the Greenwich riverside adjacent to Greenwich Power Station which houses ‘decayed’ and ‘unmarried’ men of Greenwich. It was founded by the Earl of Northampton in 1614 and there are a number of associated almshouses, on notably at Castle Rising in Norfolk. It is also known as Trinity College, or the Norfolk Charity. Today, as in the eighteenth century it and its land holdings are administered by the Mercer’s Company.
